Dr. Axelrad is Co-Director of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center at NYU Langone Health, and an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology, Department of Medicine, at NYU Grossman School of Medicine.
Dr. Axelrad also directs the Clostridioides difficile and immunotherapy- related bowel diseases programs at NYU Langone Health. His research, supported by the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation, the National Institutes of Health, and the Helmsley Charitable Trust, focuses on malignant and infectious complications of IBD and on models to predict therapeutic response.
Dr. Axelrad is actively involved in IBD guideline development and education and serves as an associate editor for the American Journal of Gastroenterology. He has received several honors, including the Dr. Philip Moskowitz Prize in Autoimmunity and the Sherman Emerging Leader Prize for Excellence in Crohn’s and Colitis.
